How TAG™ is showing support and what you can do to make a contribution.
On Thursday, February 24, 2022, Russia invaded their neighboring country, Ukraine in what is being called an “unprovoked and unjustified attack.” This has triggered international condemnation, with fears of mass casualties. Fighting has taken an increasingly heavy toll on Ukraine’s civilian population—including 510,000 children. Since the declared nationwide state of emergency, many are looking to support the Ukrainian people in some capacity, with donations that go toward medical supplies, humanitarian aid, psychological services, military equipment, and other causes.
UNICEF, also known as the United Nations Children’s Fund, is a United Nations agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. Due to the military threat in the eastern region, UNICEF has been prompted to scale up on lifesaving support for children and families under threat. UNICEF and partners have been on the ground providing support to the children and families in desperate need of safety, stability and protection.
Key emergency interventions include:
- Prepositioning health, hygiene, and emergency education supplies
- Trucking safe water to conflict-affected areas
- Providing psychological care to children traumatized by chronic insecurity, and assisting abused or separated children from family
- Working with municipalities to ensure there is immediate help for children and families in need
With that being said, TAG™ would like to extend a hand in offering any kind of support to UNICEF—War in Ukraine: Support for children and families during this time in need.
